In remembrance of Shaheena, I would like to convey a small message of dedication to her and her contributions towards my future. I was born in Pakistan and moved to LA at a young age with no English or writing skills. I attended Victor Elementary in Torrance through hardship. However, with Shaheena’s giving hand that english and writting skills barrier was bridged with her tutoring for me and my brother. I soon realized how special she was and from there arose a very special friendship. Her skills in being able to sit down and educate a child were unlike others. Her advice and commitment to hard-work and education throughout have inspired me. I was unfortunately not present when she passed away, but her smile and dedication to helping others will always remain. In the end, a small memory that I shared with her was playing Mancala after my studies and sometimes it would get very ugly. That memory of having fun and laughing together was special for my brother and I when we were young and we will always cherish that.
